The School is inviting our alumni to conduct series of workshop in this semester for current students. The aim is to initiate ideas generation and leave you all feeling motivated for what’s next. We are glad to have Mr. Andio Lai, 2015 BACM graduate to conduct the first Playing, Toys and Sound Art Workshop. He will introduce how to make an audiovisual sampler and controller, which enables participants to make an audiovisual patch and a controller (keyboard), explore physical computing and creative coding.

Conducted in English and Cantonese

Workshop quota: 20 persons (first-come, first served)

Requirements: Participant has to get a laptop installed Arduino IDE, Processing/ with access to p5JS. For those with USB-C computer must have their own USB-C to A converter/adapter. Bring along card box, fabrication materials to support the creation.

This workshop is originally planned for in-person participation aim for making a little synthesizer with physical computing and electronics, and explore input, sensors possibilities in making sound device. However due to the recent tighten anti-pandemic measures, we change the workshop to online. The original plan has been modified for suitable online teaching.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR

Andio Lai (2015 BACM graduate) is interested in making sound objects and machine art for sonic performances or installation. Through the practice of media archeology, his works focus on the subject matter of experimental instrument, playing and human-machine relation.
