SCM Summer Camp Series I - Roundabout Art

By Alexis Mailles   http://www.alexismailles.com

A circular intersection regulates the incessant flow of traffic. At its centre stands an art work. Ironically, the art work or the monument is not really here to be seen; instead, the drivers focus on circulation. Is the accident the only way to draw their attention?

  1. Content, computational and compositional principles are admittedly intertwined. Esp.   in real-time generative art and interactive performances.
  2. There is a wide array of creative frameworks available for any kind of visual, sonic and interactive creation. Their combination can lead to a great complexity;
  3. Yet a critical understanding of how these principles are interwoven is essential to the techno-artist

This workshop is a practical introduction to interaction design with TouchDesigner, a real-time visual development platform with multiple creative applications including: projection mapping, interactive visualization, live show controls, music visuals, 3D and custom applications. It will be used in combination with Arduino, which is a prototyping platform for electric and electronic elements. The workshop will cover topics related to programming dynamic media for physical environments

The workshop will enable the participants to acquire the fundamentals and a basic working knowledge of Arduino and TouchDesigner. Using a mix of digital and analog tools and devices, with TouchDesigner as programming environment, the participants will produce a hybrid presentation around their fields of interest. Participants will present their works at the end of the workshop.
