ELECTRIC DREAMS & SUGAR COATED REALITIES

Post-Industrial Landscapes is a traveling academic program created by Tobias Klein in the Architectural Association Visiting School Program. Founded in 2013, it saw the program successfully establish visiting schools of ten days in Hong Kong, Ottawa, Canada and San Francisco in the past 3 years of its existing. Always in collaboration with local academic institutions, the program strives to explore technological boundaries in the field of Architecture and New Media design.
 

The program in 2016 is the second year running unique type of cross disciplinary workshop series, bringing together digital driven design expertise from the School of Creative Media and the long standing architectural background of cutting edge forward planning from the AA. The different backgrounds and challenges in understanding of design and architecture, aim to push the boundaries of what is the norm in Architecture and digital design.

AAVS HK2016 JULY 11th – 21st

We will be working in three elements. Firstly, we will organise a series of visits in Hong Kong and Shenzhen to maker and hacker spaces creating digital niches - ranging from the famous Makerbay to the infamous DimSumLabs. Secondly, we will organise a series of skill-up sessions with our tutors, engaged and internationally renowned robotic designers, drone pilots, inventors, story tellers, jacks of all trades and mavericks in the articulation of a new playground for all design industries. Lastly, we will break into small teams to deliver focused and provocative projects. The school will be accompanied by lecturers who come from all fields of design, biology, chemistry and art, bridging traditionally established boundaries. The Unit Instructors this year include:
