Twisting Bamboo - A contemporary paper crafting experience
About the Workshop

This workshop introduces participants to paper crafting, which is a significant aspect of Hong Kong's intangible cultural heritage and is often showcased during festivals and religious ceremonies. Participants will learn two basic blinding skills, paper mounting and painting. They will then work in groups to create an artwork to be displayed at CMC later.

Medium of instruction: Cantonese, English, and Putonghua, depending on the participants, with English materials provided as supplements.

Target

Open to all SCM students, no crafting experience necessary.

Workshop Requirements

1. You will need to attend both days of the workshop (20 & 21 September).
2. Be ON TIME.
3. Be creative, mindful and concentrated.

About the Instructor

Zaat Hap Laa is an art collective exploring bamboo crafting through a series of workshops with communities, imparting knowledge, and cultivating the next generation of talented individuals with artistic abilities in ‘hands, eyes, and heart’ for creative expression.
