Curatorial Statement 策展導言

The word “cha din” means charging in Cantonese, which could also refer to a short break between busy lifestyles. We hope audiences will become our “Diners”, slowing down their footsteps with the artists, and venture into a pausing status. Humans need “charging” to relax, machines need “charging” to operate. We translate this exhibition as a field of mutual replenishment and energy conversion.

In this exhibition, we tend to create a slow and open spatial atmosphere, as we focus on the pausing moments that are preserved for audiences and creators within the ever-paced rhythm of city life. “Pause” serves as an energy, allowing one to rediscover the flow of time in a fleeting moment during time pauses, to understand the core essence of creation and art once more. Tasting every “dish” that was created with love and care.

We liken artists to the creators of each dish, with each work reflecting their deconstruction and reinterpretation of different themes. After two years of intensive creation and study, they have developed diverse creative styles, each with its own unique characteristics.

「叉電」在粵語裡有字面上充電的意思，也有在工作繁忙之餘進行短暫休息的解釋。我們希望邀請觀眾作為“食客”，與藝術家一起放慢步伐，進入一段充電狀態。人需要「叉電」放鬆，機器需要「叉電」運行，我們將這場展覽解析為一種相互補給，能量轉換的場域。

這次展覽嘗試營造一個緩慢而開放的空間氛圍，我們關注持續高速運轉的城市節奏之中，為觀眾與創作者保留的停頓時刻。 「休息」本身成為一種力量，讓人在暫停的時刻裡重新感受時間的流動，重新理解創作與藝術的本質，品味創作者每一道「菜餚」裡的精緻與用心。

我們將藝術家比喻成每道菜的創作者，每一件作品裡面都關於他們對不同議題的解構與重釋。在這兩年的密集創作與學習之後，他們形成了帶有各自自身色彩的多樣化的創作風格。
