Background
Ria ZHANG Riwen is a Hong Kong–based artist and experimental animator working with moving images, abstract animation, and live visual performance. Her practice explores the interplay of sound and image, transforming concrete subjects into abstract visual language. Her research interests include the shifting nature of personal identity in relation to geography and memory, the role of abstraction in a narrative-driven media culture, and she is currently developing her own visual instrument for performance practice. Her works have been presented internationally in New York, Berlin, London, Vienna, and Prague. She holds a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Media from City University of Hong Kong.
