Shaoyu Cai is a PhD candidate from the School of Creative Media, City University of Hong Kong. His research interest lies in the field of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), with emphasis on cross-modal generation (e.g., from vision to touch), data-driven texture modelling and rendering, and haptic interface design for virtual and augmented reality (VR & AR). His current work focuses on data-driven multi-modal haptic properties modelling and rendering for material simulation, such as roughness, compliance, slipperiness, etc.
