Cao Yuxi

Cao Yuxi AKA James Cao (he/his - China, 1990) is a pioneering new media artist known for his diverse works in sound visualization, live performances, creative coding, data visualization, and AI-driven contemporary art. With a Master of Fine Arts from the School of Visual Arts in New York and a bachelor's from the China Central Academy of Fine Arts, his art bridges traditional and digital mediums, often showcased globally in museums and festivals like MOMA PS1, Today Art Museum, and OCAT.

Cao's public art projects include permanent installations at Beijing Daxing International Airport and Shenzhen Citizen's Plaza. Notably, he served as visual effects director for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics opening ceremony. Based in Shenzhen and Hong Kong, he remains a trailblazer in the digital art realm, blending innovation with cultural resonance.

Bryan Chung

Bryan Chung is a media artist and educator from Hong Kong. Bryan was awarded the Media Artist of the Year 2016, by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council. He was also the Grand Prize winner of the Japan Media Arts Festival, Art Division, 2015. In 2009, his consultation work, Coca Cola Happy Whistling Machine won the Media Kam Fan Advertising Award. Bryan also develops software libraries for the open source programming language Processing. He is the author of two books, Multimedia Programming with Pure Data (Packt Publishing, 2013) and Pro Processing for Images and Computer Vision with OpenCV (Apress Springer, 2017).

Before retirement, he was the Associate Professor in the Academy of Visual Arts, Hong Kong Baptist University, where he taught subjects on interactive arts, computer graphics, and physical media. More information can be checked out from his personal website at http://www.magicandlove.com

About the Organiser

Marta Pang is a Berlin-based multimedia artist from Hong Kong, specializing in interactive generative artworks and audio-visuals. Since 2022, she has been creating daily generative visuals as part of her creative practice. Marta has collaborated with major artists such as Kylie Minogue, Post Malone, Travis Scott, and Will Smith, with her work showcased at festivals like Coachella (Calvin Harris), Afterlife, and Transmoderna. She has also performed at CaixaForum Barcelona.

She studied Creative Media at City University of Hong Kong and is now pursuing a master's in Creative Technologies at Film University Babelsberg, Germany.

VISITOR ARRANGEMENTS

1. All non-CityUHK member visitors entering the University campus must be pre-registered via the University's Visitor Registration System (VRS). The VRS can be accessed via Office Admin under AIMS by departmental staff who have VRS access privileges.

2. Once the visitor's information has been submitted via the VRS, an email will be sent to the visitor with a special QR code attached from the CityU-Visitor Registration System. The visitor must show the QR code and may need to present his/her personal ID to the security staff at campus entrance on the day of the visit. Upon confirmation, the visitor will receive a label valid for the day.

3. For guests who didn't receive the above email with the QR code, please check your spam or junk email folder in case the email was accidentally marked as spam.

4. A single email address cannot be shared with multiple visitors for registration on the same day.
