We are proud to announce that our BACM alumnus, Chilai Howard, was conferred the 3rd SCM Distinguished Alumni Award at the 2023 Commencement of the School of Creative Media (SCM). The Award was launched in 2021 to honour SCM alumni who have made outstanding achievements in and distinctive contributions to their professions, the School and the community.
Howard is an interdisciplinary artist and a designer, who graduated with a BACM degree from the Critical Intermedia Lab of SCM back in 2009. Since then, he has launched a very successful international career both as an artist and in-demand designer with his Creative Studio NNNNNNN, and SCM has had the privilege of working with him on many exhibition and design projects.

His experimental moving images and mixed media installations have been exhibited at the Tate Modern, London; ZKM, Media Museum Karlsruhe; Museum of Contemporary Art Taipei; National Centre for Contemporary Art, St. Petersburg, and at many other venues. This year he received the Award for Young Artist (Media Art) from the Hong Kong Art Development Council which adds to a long list of previous awards including Red Dot, American Alliance of Museums, MARCOM, and MUSE. 

The awards that Howard gained and artwork that he created will serve as an inspiration for SCM students to embark on their journey in the art field. SCM is looking forward to seeing more and more talents bloom.
