Personalized AI Tutoring for Art Students in Programming Education — Prof. Zhang Xiaoyu
The challenges of teaching coding to students in a digital art school like SCM have been long-standing. These students potentially have highly diverse backgrounds and levels of computer literacy. In this talk, I will share our ongoing work on developing a computational method to break down creative coding problems into logically linear sub-problems and an AI tutor that guides students step-by-step according to their understanding and current progress. This approach is motivated by our observation that students often struggle to begin in-class exercises while instructors lack the time to provide individual guidance, especially in large classrooms. If you’re interested in innovative teaching methods, AI in education, or simply curious about learning programming by yourself, welcome to join me and explore how our solution can transform the learning experience, increase student engagement, and offer scalable, personalized support in coding education.
