Sun Xun’s animation works challenge the notion of time, history and narratives, communicating social development through a realm between reality and fantasy. In comparison to previous generations, Sun, as an artist from Generation Y, faces a new set of cultural and geopolitical factors. What is Sun’s perspective on the environmental factors contributing to his practice on a personal level as a Gen Y artist in Mainland China? How does the medium of his practice inform or reflect the socio-political context in the artwork? What is Chineseness in the internationalisation of Chinese contemporary art? And that for Hong Kong from the perspective of Mainland Chinese artists?


Sun Xun was born in 1980 in Fuxin in Liaoning province, China. He currently lives and works in Beijing. He graduated in 2005 from the Print-making Department of the China Academy of Art. In 2006 he established π Animation Studio.

孫遜的動畫作品挑戰時間，歷史以及敍述的概念，透過現實和幻想間的領域演繹社會發展。對比以往的年代，孫遜作為Y世代藝術家，面對著一套新的文化和地緣政治因素。從他的個人觀點，孫遜如何看待影響著他藝術實踐的中國Y世代環境因素？他使用的媒介如何賦予及反映作品中的社會政治脈胳？國際化的中國當代藝術內的中國性是甚麼？從中國藝術家的角度，香港藝術的中國性又是甚麼？

孫遜，1980年出生於中國遼寧省阜新。2005年畢業於中國美術學院版畫系。次年，成立π格動畫工作室。現生活並工作於北京。
