DEAN'S MESSAGE

We are living in a world of accelerating change, driven by the proliferation of digital media, which is profoundly transforming the ways in which we perceive and interact with the world and relate to one another. We at the School of Creative Media train students to become masters of the digital tools that define our lives so they can meet the technological, social and environmental challenges of our time. Students combine a basic technical education in computer programming and digital media creation with a broad interdisciplinary training in arts, sciences and humanities to create boldly imaginative, innovative, and ground-breaking, works of media art. Our graduates are change agents both in the field of digital media and the world at large.

City University of Hong Kong’s School of Creative Media is recognized to be an international center for discovery and innovation in Asia. Here creativity is nurtured as a cornerstone of Hong Kong’s social and economic advancement in the 21st Century. Our teaching and research facilities are housed in a stunning, one-of-a-kind, building designed by the world renowned architect Daniel Libeskind. The School of Creative Media is led by an outstanding, internationally renowned, faculty of digital media artists, thinkers, and innovators, working in the fields of animation, sound design, gaming, software development, physical computing, film, digital media art, and media theory. Within this hub of creativity, students attain the technical, artistic, and intellectual skills that enable them to take positions of leadership and innovation in a global society and economy. There is no better place for young people to train in digital media, to discover and develop their creative abilities, and to give meaning and shape to our futures.
