In Hong Kong Arts Development Awards for 2014, SCM won the Award for Arts Promotion; Dr Cédric Maridet of SCM won Artist of the Year (Media Arts); and SCM alumnus Mr Kenny Wong Chi-chuen won the Award for Young Artist (Media Arts).

Artworks by six students from the School of Creative Media will be displayed on the largest urban screen in the world, 77,000-square-metre facade of the International Commerce Centre (ICC), from now until 31 March.

In recognition of his outstanding contributions to immersive and interactive technologies, the Society of Art and Technology (SAT) in Canada presented Professor Shaw, Dean of the School of Creative Media, with a lifetime achievement award.

Students of the School of Creative Media have had an opportunity to showcase their works at the SCM Annual 2014 at City University of Hong Kong. Altogether 57 graduates have exhibited work covering a variety of topics, such as the identity of Hong Kong people, homosexuality and social systems.

A team of students from City University of Hong Kong trekked to Antarctica and transformed data that was collected during the expedition into new media art projects. Opening on 23 May, an exhibition titled “Freeze Frame” will showcase the students’ projects.

Seven interactive media artworks by graduates of the School of Creative Media are featured at the CINEMA 2.0 – New Playable Art: Media Art Exhibition and The 19th ifva Awards – Interactive Media Category Finalist Exhibition. The exhibitions run from 13 to 30 March at the Pao Galleries, Hong Kong Art Centre.
